“It means a lot because we have really good supporters, and the fanbase is growing all the time and it means a lot to see them after the games and following our careers so it’s really cool.”

Hitting double figures in her first season at Leicester led to her nomination for the award, and the Finnish international hopes she can keep improving and do her bit for the team, who she explains have played a big part at helping her settle in.

“I think I’ve had a really good season so far,” Rantala continued. “With two games left, we can still achieve more which is what I’m aiming for. It means a lot that the staff and players are believing in me and think I can keep scoring more goals.

“It’s been a good season, I’ve played a few different positions, I came here with no expectations, but the girls welcomed me into the team, and I’ve enjoyed my time here. All the thanks to the girls, they’ve really made me feel at home here.”

'It's Been A Really Good Season'

Jutta Rantala reflects on winning both the Women's Player and Players' Player of the Season.

Two games remain this season for the Foxes; an away trip against West Ham United before concluding the season at King Power Stadium against Liverpool on Saturday 18 May (3pm BST kick-off).

Enjoying a special evening with her team-mates, City’s No.8 hopes they can end the season on a high with a maximum six points, which could see them climb to a highest finish in the Barclays Women’s Super League.

Rantala added: “With two games left we can still go higher in the table, and that’s our aim. We know we can win these last two games so that’s what we’re aiming for.

“It’s really cool being able to celebrate the season with the men’s and women’s team together. It’s a nice evening for everyone.”
