Despite falling behind to Mathias Jorgensen’s opener, strikes from Kelechi Iheanacho, James Maddison and Jamie Vardy sealed City’s third Premier League victory of the new campaign.

“Before the game we said that home form would be massive this season, to get wins at home is a massive thing in the league,” Chilwell told LCFC TV at full-time.

“To get another home win was a massive positive and hopefully we can carry it on next week. I think to stay in this league and try to get into Europe, winning the majority of our games at home is going to be massive for us this season.

“Picking up points away from home on the road is big for us as well, getting a win today was important to carry us through to next week.”

Following the frustration of conceding first, Chilwell was also particularly pleased with the manner of Leicester’s response, enabling them to defeat David Wagner’s visitors.

“Of course going a goal behind wasn’t the game plan,” the England international added.

We kicked on in the second half and wore them down. You could tell they were starting to get tired as we were having a lot of possession.

“We want to get an early goal ourselves. But going a goal behind can happen, the way the team reacted was very positive and getting that goal back quite quickly was important.

“We kicked on in the second half and wore them down. You could tell they were starting to get tired as we were having a lot of possession.

“Getting the second and third goal was good and I’m happy for the boys that scored.”
