Craig Shakespeare will check on the fitness of on Tuesday prior to Leicester City’s UEFA Champions League Quarter-Final clash with Atlético Madrid.

Morgan has not featured for over a month due to a nerve problem in his back, with his last involvement seeing him net in the last-16 second leg clash with Sevilla.

The Foxes skipper trained with the squad on Monday morning ahead of the fixture and Shakespeare says he has been pleased with the centre back’s progress over the last few days.

“The final decision will be made tomorrow (Tuesday),” said Shakespeare of Morgan’s potential involvement. “I need to see if there’s any reaction from today (Monday’s training session).

“With the type of injury he’s had – a nerve problem in his back – we just want to make sure 100 per cent that there’s no reaction.

“He’s trained the last three training sessions, of which the intensity has been greater in each one. I’m really pleased with the way he’s progressed over the last three days but the final decision will be made tomorrow morning.

“I’d like to find out from the player, but my eyes tell me today that we should both be fairly pleased with the way he’s come through.”

Andy King and Yohan Benalouane came off during the 2-2 draw with Crystal Palace on Saturday, but Shakespeare confirmed both players trained well on Monday.

He added: “Unfortunately, after Saturday’s game, Andy King and Yohan [Benalouane] came off. They didn’t take in any part of training yesterday, but they’ve trained today.

“We’d have been down to the bare bones, but thankfully they’ve both come through today’s session fine.”
