Foxes Foundation Brings Festive Cheer To Loughborough
- The Foxes Foundation raises funds for a host of local charities that make a difference to children and young people across Leicestershire
- The Birch was joined by 1,500 runners and family members for a host of festive activities, including face painting, pantomime and dog fancy dress
Leicester City Club Ambassador Alan Birchenall made a special appearance in Loughborough on Sunday morning for the annual LCFC Foxes Foundation Santa Fun Run.
The Birch gave over 1,500 enthusiastic fun-runners, many devout members of the Blue Army, a motivational team talk before they embarked on a curvilinear route around the northern Leicestershire town for local charities.
The Foxes Foundation aims to give back to the community by raising funds for a range of different local charities that make a huge difference to children and young people, health, education and human services in the county.
Speaking as the run came to a close in the town square, City legend Birchenall told LCFC TV: “We've been doing events like this for years, going back to my time as a player 45 years ago.
“It wasn’t so prominent then but little by little we've got bigger and when the new owners came in, they turned it into the Foxes Foundation.
“We’re on our way to our second £1 million raised which is brilliant. I was tempted to join in but it is a bit early for me on a Sunday morning!
“I just think it’s fantastic. I’ve been coming along to this event now for the last eight or nine years. Everybody who turned out in their Santa outfits have done wonderfully well.
“It’s all about raising money for these fantastic charities that we have in Leicestershire.”
