Mahrez Nominated For UCL Awards

- Mahrez netted a brace, including a stunning free kick, in Leicester City’s 3-0 UEFA Champions League win at Club Brugge 

- The Algeria international is up against the likes of Lionel Messi, Cristiano Ronaldo and Sergio Aguero for the awards 

Leicester City winger Riyad Mahrez has been nominated for the UEFA Champions League’s Goal of the Week and Player of the Week awards. 

Mahrez was instrumental in the Foxes’ stunning 3-0 victory over Club Brugge at the Jan Breydel Stadium on Wednesday evening, as Claudio Ranieri’s men enjoyed a memorable Champions League debut. 

The Algeria international’s beautiful 20-yard free kick has been nominated for the UCL Goal of the Week award alongside strikes from Andres Iniesta, Bernado Silva, Saul Niguez and Cristiano Ronaldo. 

Meanwhile, Mahrez will contest the UCL Player of the Week award with Lionel Messi, Sergio Aguero, Joshua Kimmich, Arkadiusz Milik, Bernardo Silva, Mario Gotze and Saul Niguez.
