Ranieri: Another Tough Match, But We Will Fight
- The Foxes head to Stamford Bridge on Saturday to resume their Premier League campaign
- Ranieri wants to see how his side fare against the 2014/15 champions
Leicester City face another difficult Premier League challenge against Chelsea on Saturday, but they will continue to show their mettle, says manager Claudio Ranieri.
The Foxes faced Antonio Conte’s men as recently as September, when the London outfit recorded a 4-2 extra-time win in the EFL Cup at King Power Stadium.
With City’s UEFA Champions League clash with FC Copenhagen coming just three days later, Ranieri believes he may have to rotate his personnel so that his players can give their maximum in both games.
“It will be another tough match,” Ranieri told LCFC TV ahead of the game. “Antonio Conte has changed the shape of Chelsea so we have to fight.
“We have to think about two matches – Chelsea and Copenhagen – so I must rotate my players because it’s important to fight in every match 100 per cent.
“It is important because my players come back two or three days before the Chelsea match. That’s not easy for me and it’s not easy for Antonio Conte, but that is football.”
City come up against a Chelsea side that have made a positive start to the season under new manager Antonio Conte and Ranieri is eager to see how his side fare against one of the Premier League’s heavyweights.
“It’s a big challenge because now there are so many champions in front,” added the City boss. “They are playing 3-4-3.
"They push a lot on the flank but they are also good players with good skill. For us, it’s important to stay together.
“I want to see how my players react. We lost against Liverpool and Manchester United and now arrives another big team. We drew just against Arsenal, so now I want to see how we react.”
