Ranieri Provides Slimani & Musa Fitness Update
- The Foxes face the Danish champions on Wednesday evening in the UEFA Champions League
- Ranieri says his squad have recovered well from Saturday’s 1-1 draw with Tottenham Hotspur
Leicester City manager Claudio Ranieri provided an update on the fitness of his squad ahead of Wednesday evening’s UEFA Champions League clash with FC Copenhagen.
Striker Islam Slimani, who missed Saturday’s 1-1 Premier League draw with Tottenham Hotspur, will not be risked after picking up a minor groin injury, according to the City boss.
Meanwhile, forward Ahmed Musa, who took a knock while netting the equaliser at White Hart Lane, is available for selection.
“I think [Islam] Slimani is not ready and [Ahmed] Musa is ready,” Ranieri told the media ahead of Wednesday’s game.
“I don’t want to risk. The physio told me he’s okay but be careful, but why lose a player for one match and then lose him for a month?”
Wednesday’s trip to the Parken Stadium sees City play for the second time in five days, but Ranieri says his side are fully recovered following the Spurs clash.
The City boss added: “Everybody recovered very well. When you play in the Champions League, the mental energy is very high. We will find the right solution.
“Let me see the training session [on Tuesday] and then tomorrow morning I’ll choose the starting XI.”
