Leicester City striker Leonardo Ulloa says his team-mates must return from the international break with a clear mind following Sunday’s Premier League draw with Southampton.

The Saints defence had kept five consecutive clean sheets heading into the fixture and on Sunday managed to thwart a City side that had only failed to score once in nine games in all competitions prior to the clash.

A trio of chances for the Foxes – two for Jamie Vardy and one for Islam Slimani – were blocked by Saints midfielder Oriol Romeu in the first period, before Robert Huth was denied by Fraser Forster after the break.

Meanwhile Charlie Austin came closest to breaking the deadlock after hitting the post, as well as forcing Kasper Schmeichel into a close-range save in the second half.

“It was a difficult game,” Ulloa reflected to LCFC TV. “They started well and had some chances. It was a tough game for us. They played well and kept the ball and tried to move it.

“We worked hard and had a few chances today but I think the point is good for us because they had better chances than us.

“We know that they play well and defend well. They have a different tactical game than us. They play with the ball and it was difficult.

“We need to think forward now and we’re looking forward to the next game. Some players go with their national teams and the others rest but we need to clear our minds and think about the next game.”

The Foxes remain unbeaten at King Power Stadium in the Premier League this campaign and Ulloa believes the Blue Army’s magnificent support has certainly contributed to City’s solidarity on home soil.

He added: “Now, I think this season is so difficult every game We need the support from the fans. Every team wants to beat us because we are the champions.

“We need to think that it’s more difficult than last year. We need to keep going and work hard. Every game is difficult but we will improve in training for every game.”
