Vardy: Concentrate On Us

- Vardy believes Walter Mazzarri’s men are a side that must be respected 

- The City No.9 wants to kick on in front of goal after netting for England on Tuesday 

Jamie Vardy says the only aspect Leicester City will be concentrating on is their own display when they face Watford in the Premier League on Saturday. 

The Foxes head to Vicarage Road to take on a Hornets side that have lost just once in their last five games – that coming in the form of a heavy 6-1 defeat to Liverpool prior to the international break. 

City’s No.9 knows just how eager Walter Mazzarri’s men will be to bounce back, but the Premier League champions are focused on one thing – how they perform in London. 

“Everyone is buzzing around,” Vardy told LCFC TV ahead of the game. “We know it was a disappointing result in the last game, but we know we need to bounce back and we’ll be looking to do that this weekend. 

“We know it’s going to be tough. Every single game is in this league. There are no easy games, but we’ve put the research in with the sports staff. 

“Hopefully we can get our tactics down to a tee and perform how we know we can. That will be the thing that brings us three points back. 

“I think every single team in this league should be respected. I think if you go into a match not respecting someone, then that’s when the bad results start to come. You have to respect every single team. 

“At the end of the day, we need to concentrate on ourselves. They’ll want to bounce back from their result against Liverpool, but so do we after our result against West Brom.” 

Vardy heads into Saturday’s fixture having scored his fifth goal for England – a well-timed header during the 2-2 draw against Spain at Wembley Stadium on Tuesday evening. 

Now, the frontman is eyeing more goals, but says the onus is on him to put in the hard work if he is to do so. 

He added: “It’s been a good week-and-a-half. Obviously training has been good and I think the gaffer definitely got us set for both games. 

“To come back with a goal and two positive performances and results is pleasing as well. 

“It does give me a boost but now it’s up to me to continue that now and start netting on a regular basis. Hopefully that first goal against Spain will be the one that kick starts it. 

“I’ve got myself a goal after what I think was 14 games for club and country without one. To break that little duck is definitely a big confidence boost and hopefully that’s a sign of things to come now.”
