Vardy: Take Nothing For Granted

- The Foxes are on the verge qualification from UEFA Champions League Group G 

- A point against the Belgian outfit would be enough for City to reach the last-16 

Jamie Vardy says Leicester City will take nothing for granted during their UEFA Champions League clash with Club Brugge at Leicester City Stadium on Tuesday. 

Just a point from the Foxes’ penultimate Group G fixture against the Belgium champions would see them qualify for the last-16. 

That would be a huge achievement for Claudio Ranieri’s men, who during their debut campaign in the competition are yet to be beaten after four games. 

“It’s massive, it really is, but I don’t think we can take anything for granted,” said Vardy on the prospect of qualification. “We know it’s going to be a tough test. 

“We know that if we play our football, especially how we did when we played them away from home, then we will get the point. Hopefully it’ll be the win that secures our qualification. 

“It would be an unbelievable feeling to get to the knockout stages. You get a little break from the Champions League for a bit and then you’re looking forward to the draw and who you’ll be facing in the knockout stages.” 

The Foxes’ first-ever Champions League game ended in superb 3-0 victory over Club Brugge at the Jan Breydel Stadium in mid-September, and Vardy is hoping his side can produce a similar performance on Tuesday. 

He added: “To be honest, we just went there with no fear. We knew they were going to be tough to break down but as we saw from the performance that night, we thoroughly deserved the victory. We just need to make sure that we’re at that form again. 

“It was massive because it was our first-ever game in the Champions League as well so to get a result like we did and play the way we did was unbelievable. To be fair, in the Champions League we’ve carried that one. 

“We need to make sure that we focus on ourselves and pay Club Brugge the respect that they deserve. We need focus on ourselves and make sure that we’re at 100 per cent – that should be enough to get us the win.”
