Andy King Signs New Leicester City Deal

Speaking exclusively to Foxes Player, Andy said: “I’m absolutely buzzing. To have come so far with the Club and to be playing in the Premier League now is a dream come true. To be able to commit my future and for the Club to have shown this sort of faith in me is a massive boost so I’m just looking to kick on now. 

“I’ve only ever played for Leicester City and it’s looking more and more like they’re the only team I’ll ever play for. I would love it if that is the case. 

“I’ve always said from when I made my debut against Wolves in 2007 that the fans have been nothing but brilliant with me, so I’d just like to say a big thank you to them. They’ve supported me throughout my whole career with Leicester so far and I hope that they continue to do so.” 

An experienced Wales international, King has carved himself out a reputation as a creative force in midfield for Club and country throughout his career, as well as being the scorer of some spectacular and important goals. 

Across his 283 appearances in a blue shirt, the Academy graduate has hit an impressive 54 goals – a total that last season saw him overtake the legendary Davie Gibson as the Club’s all-time top scoring midfielder. 

Having joined the Academy in 2004, King underlined his potential early on by playing a key role in the Under-18s side that went on to take the FA Premier Academy League crown in 2007. 

The same year King signed a two-year deal with the Club and went on to make his full debut against Wolverhampton Wanderers in October. That was one of 12 starts for King in his debut season – during which his goal against Southampton won the Club’s Goal of the Season award. 

During the 2008/09 campaign under Pearson, King’s influence grew as he helped the team to the League 1 title, and along with former midfielder Lloyd Dyer, is the only player to feature in both of the current manager’s title-winning sides. 

King’s goal scoring exploits continued to reach new heights in the 2010/11 Championship season, when he netted a stunning 16 times from midfield. 

The midfielder again showed his worth last term, when his performances and goals helped see the team storm to the Championship title with a record 102 points – something that eventually led to King’s long-awaited Barclays Premier League debut on the opening day of this season against Everton.
