The Foxes sit third in England’s top flight, just two points behind champions Manchester City and eight above Chelsea in fourth spot.

They next face Wolverhampton Wanderers on Friday evening following the Premier League's inaugural winter break, and Ricardo says Leicester will not alter their quest to finish as high as possible in 2019/20.

“I think there are still some games to finish, there’s still a long way to go until the finish,” Ricardo said. “Anything can happen in these couple of months, so it’s important to keep our feet on the ground and keep working.

“Of course, we are better than the objectives we put in the beginning of the season, but we want to arrive at the end of the season at our objectives, or better, but for now it’s the same.

“We know in the season it’s difficult. Every team has their best moments and then not so good, so we know it’s a regularity.

“It’s important to be always good and always winning, but we know that cannot happen all of the time.

“I think that’s what’s happened and the teams, they see us in a different way that maybe that they weren’t seeing us at the beginning of the season.”

Ricardo praised fellow Portuguese Nuno Espírito Santo for the style that he plays at Molineux since taking the managerial reigns in 2017.

He said: “I think he did a great job here [in England]. He maybe surprised a lot of people here. He arrived with a different style of play and I think Wolves didn’t play like that before he arrived.

They know what they are doing and that’s important – and they believe in what they are doing. That’s important for them, and you can see that every week.

“He had success and he brought Wolves from the Championship to the Premier League. In his first season [in the Premier League] he arrived in seventh place and in the Europa League. They’re doing good again and I think you have to be happy with his work.”

According to Ricardo, Wolves’ success is borne out of a belief in their own ability to implement their ideas in the Premier League.

He added: “I think they showed in the last couple of years that they have a lot of quality, good players and a good way of playing.

“They know what they are doing and that’s important – and they believe in what they are doing. That’s important for them, and you can see that every week.”
