The defender, signed from Tottenham Hotspur Women, becomes City’s third new signing of the winter, following the acquisitions of Missy Goodwin and Freya Gregory – also on loan – from Aston Villa.

Primarily a right-back, 19-year-old Morgan says she is relishing the opportunity of potentially gaining more game time and experience at the highest level, having already made 12 appearances for Spurs across the last two seasons.

“I’m really excited about this opportunity, and I’m really excited to be here,” she told LCFC TV. “I think I need to be playing and I think this is a good place for me to be given opportunities.

Signing on loan for the rest of the season - Esther Morgan.

“I’m here to fight for the shirt and my place in the team and hopefully make us a stronger side, so it’s just an exciting experience. It’s also about the environment.

“Obviously, we need to stay up and I think that’s a big aim for all of us. Just being in and around the environment is something that I’ve never been in before so it’s just an exciting time.”

After watching Leicester defeat Spurs in the Vitality Women’s FA Cup on Sunday, the Wales international is enthused by the prospect of being able to add to the squad and make a difference during the rest of 2021/22.

Morgan reflected: “I was at the game; it was a bit strange if I’m being honest, but it was a good game. I think Lydia [Bedford] prepped the girls really well. You could see that they’d done their research and it was a good game to come and watch.

All smiles after the Wales international arrived at Belvoir Drive.

“There’s already a great team here but being able to push them in training and fight for that shirt is something that I really want to do and hopefully gain some more minutes in the WSL.”

Bolstering Lydia Bedford’s squad ahead of the season run-in, which starts with a trip to Birmingham City on Sunday, the full-back has enjoyed her first training sessions with the team.

“That’s a game I’m really excited for,” Morgan added. “It’s going to be a dog fight, but I think it’s one of those games that you want to be a part of and playing in. It will be a fun one.

“The girls have been great. I think it’s just now about building relationships with different players across the pitch, finding out what they like to do, how they like to play, what I can do to help them play better.

"And I think it goes the same with them for me, but I’m really enjoying it.”
