- 25-year-old joins City with UEFA Women’s Champions League experience
The 25-year-old, who has played seven times for the Netherlands at international level, joins the Foxes on a three-year contract following six seasons in the Dutch top-flight.
Kop makes the move to King Power Stadium as a two-time Eredivisie champion and adds valuable experience to Willie Kirk’s squad ahead of a third successive season in the Barclays Women's Super League.
Speaking at King Power Stadium, she said: "It feels great to be here, and it feels like home already. I wanted to have new experiences within my career, and I feel like this move came at the right time. I spoke to Willie and I felt good right away.
"The ambitions of the Club are great and that was a big part of the move for me. I want to work towards those ambitions and be part of it. I hope the WSL will make me a better player and hopefully I can help the team with my experience."
Born in Wormer, Netherlands, she graduated the Ajax academy in 2017, making her senior debut in the same year in a 2-0 league win over Achilles ’29.
Continuing her development, the shot-stopper made her UEFA Women’s Champions League debut in a 2-1 win over Sparta Prague just one year later. She arrives in Leicestershire with over 100 senior career appearances across all competitions to her name.
A full international for the Dutch Lionesses, Kop made her debut for the Netherlands in 2019, playing against Poland in the Algarve Cup, and has since made six further appearances for her country.
She arrives on Filbert Way having helped her nation to the FIFA 2023 Women’s World Cup Quarter-Final in Australia and New Zealand and strengthens the cohort of international players now representing the Foxes domestically.
City’s latest recruit will link up with her new team-mates at Belvoir Drive following a period of rest to begin preparations for her first season in the top flight of English football later this month.
