We Found The Required Solutions, Says Maresca
- A 3-0 success at home to Rotherham United sees Leicester City stay at the Sky Bet Championship summit
- Patson Daka (2) and Cesare Casadei were on the scoresheet at King Power Stadium
- Manager Enzo Maresca assessed the performance from his Foxes side on Saturday
- He also looked ahead to an exciting match-up with Ipswich Town
Goalless at the break, a Patson Daka double – one from the penalty spot – saw City ahead in the second half, before substitute Cesare Casadei increased the advantage and helped claim the three points at King Power Stadium. It will keep the Foxes top of the Sky Bet Championship on Christmas Day.
Maresca commented following full-time on Saturday: “It has been a good win, first of all because it's one more win, that is the most important thing. And then it was exactly the game we expected – a difficult game because we knew that we needed to be patient.
We did the most difficult thing in this game, that is to find the goal and then we deserved to win the game.

“But at the end, we did the most difficult thing in this game, that is to find the goal and then we deserved to win the game.
“To be honest, even [in the] first half when we finished 0-0, I was happy because it's very difficult against this kind of team when they drop to find space, to find solutions, to find the goal.
“At the same time, it's very dangerous because they can create dangerous counter attacks and we managed it quite well."
With four goals in four games, forward Daka has certainly grasped his chance to start in the last few matches, an opportunity which Maresca felt he merited having waiting patiently in the opening months of the season.
Maresca: We Needed To Be Patient
Enzo Maresca offers his post-match thoughts after Leicester City's 3-0 success over Rotherham United.
City’s Manager explained: “Absolutely he deserved it because he has been three or four months without playing games and kept work hard and he is doing very well.”
Now six points clear of Ipswich, the Foxes have an opportunity to extend the gap to nine if they were to beat the Tractor Boys at Portman Road on Boxing Day. It’s a 7:45pm GMT kick-off on Tuesday night.
“It's always good to win the game,” the Italian added. “For me, to be honest, I said before the game, between tonight and Tuesday's game, it was much more important to win tonight and then now we prepare for Tuesday.
“We just made some changes like we always try to do and nothing more than that.”
