Simpson: Hard Work Starts Now
Danny Simpson spoke to LCFC TV after a gruelling first day of training back at Belvoir Drive on Monday.
The defender not only enjoyed his time back on the training pitch, but was happy to reconvene with his City team-mates.
Speaking exclusively to LCFC TV, Simpson said: “It’s good to be back. It’s been a tough day today, which expected on our first day back. We did a lot of testing in the morning and then in the afternoon, we got a feel of the ball and did a bit of running.
“It’s good to see all the boys. We spend a lot of time together and we’ve been away from each other for the best part of six weeks, so it’s good to reconnect and start having a laugh again, because that’s what we’re all about.

“We’ve got a good group of lads and the staff give us a little programme to stick to over the summer to keep us ticking over. From what we’ve seen today during the fitness run, you can see the lads have done that. Day one is always tough, but it’ll only get tougher.”
The pre-season schedule begins this week with testing, before a training camp in Austria is followed by the Foxes participating in the Premier League Asia Trophy.
We just want to get as fit as we can as soon as we can and playing those friendly games is what it’s about.

Anticipating an exciting pre-season to come, Simpson added: “We enjoy the tours. It’s good to see different parts of the world. Last year we managed to get to LA and this year it’s Hong Kong, so everyone is really looking forward to it.
“We just want to get as fit as we can as soon as we can and playing those friendly games is what it’s about. We want to get back on the pitch playing games because we’re looking forward to the season.”
