- Leicester City were beaten 2-1 by Watford in the Premier League on Sunday
- Harry Maguire says City's focus is already on Saturday's visit of Fulham to King Power Stadium
- The 26-year-old was praiseful of the Foxes' expressive build-up play at Vicarage Road
- Jamie Vardy will have a big role to play over the coming weeks, says Maguire
Following Sunday’s late 2-1 defeat by Watford, the England international defender was understandably frustrated with the end result of their trip to Vicarage Road.
However, he also insisted that progress has already been made on the training pitches under the Club’s new manager, who joined last Tuesday.
City welcome Fulham to King Power Stadium on Saturday (3pm GMT kick-off) and Maguire is already looking forward to hopefully securing an 11th Premier League win of the season.
“Everyone’s very disappointed,” he said. “We started the game really poorly and we got punished for that. The in-between wasn’t too bad, we were probably the better the side.
“In the second half we put them under a lot of pressure and we were the side creating chances, we were the ones who were looking like we were going to get the winner.
“It’s a sucker-punch that we probably didn’t deserve but we’ve got to manage the game better.
“We had a lot of the ball. We were on top, we were playing in their half, especially in the second half, but it’s disappointing.
“A disappointing afternoon, but we’re already looking forward to next Saturday.”
Maguire echoed the opinions of his defensive partner, Wes Morgan, who claimed that City can take heart from their positive sequences of play in Hertfordshire.
“We had good openings, one-on-ones in the box, where we tried to take players on and create something, but not enough chances to go out there and win the game,” he continued.
“He (Rodgers) said there’s lot of positives to take into the coming games. He said we’ve had a positive first week, with the exception of the result.
“I’m sure he’s disappointed as well. It’s a tough place to come and they’re doing well in the league, but we didn’t deserve to lose the game.
“It’ll take time for him to get his points across. He’s only been in for a couple of days, so he keeps giving us little pointers about where he wants us to improve.
“I’m sure he’s got a philosophy in how he wants to play and the boys will buy into it so I’m sure that we’ll be very successful.”
Jamie Vardy’s 10th league goal of the season came as a result of that incisive forward play and Maguire says the 32-year-old will be essential for the Foxes over the coming weeks.
He added: “He’s massive. If you give him that chance, he usually puts it away and it was a great finish. We’re disappointed that we could get a result for it to warrant something.”
