The 21-year-old centre-back, an Academy graduate at Leicester City, played the entire match as the Posh closed to within just one point of the final play-off berth in England's third tier.
Lee Tomlin’s opener was added to by Ivan Toney on the south coast and, while strikes from Ben Close and Christian Burgess levelled it, Toney won the clash with 15 minutes to go.
Peterborough next welcome ninth-placed Burton Albion to ABEX Stadium on Saturday, while sixth-placed Doncaster Rovers host Coventry City (both 5:30pm BST kick-offs).

Silva, 30, will hope to make an 11th appearance for Les Monégasques when they travel to Rennes on Wednesday evening (6pm BST kick-off).
Fousseni Diabaté, meanwhile, also starred for Sivasspor in a 0-0 draw with Rizespor in the Turkish Süper Lig at Yeni Rize Şehir Stadium on Saturday.
Sivasspor are currently 12th in the Turkish top division and Diabaté, 23, is in contention to make a 14th appearance for the club in Friday’s visit of İstanbul Başakşehir (6:30pm BST kick-off).
There was also a cameo appearance for 22-year-old George Thomas, in the 87th minute, during Scunthorpe United’s 3-2 defeat by Bradford City at Glanford Park on Saturday.
The Iron are currently 23rd in League 1 with just one game to play, but are a solitary point from 20th-place Southend United ahead of visiting Plymouth Argyle on Saturday (5:30pm BST kick-off).
Elliott Moore, Bartosz Kapustka (OHL), Islam Slimani (Fenerbahçe) Daniel Iversen (Oldham), Filip Benković (Celtic), Darnell Johnson (Hibernian) and Callum Elder (Ipswich Town) did not feature.
