- Jonny Evans speaks to LCFC TV following Sunday's 0-0 draw with Chelsea at King Power Stadium
- Leicester City finished the 2018/19 season in ninth place in the Premier League
- Evans says the summer could be a big period for the Football Club
- The Northern Ireland was also delighted to celebrate the campaign just gone with his family
The Foxes delivered another assured performance at King Power Stadium and will have been satisfied with a clean sheet, but were unable to seal a winner against Maurizio Sarri’s men.
At full-time, Evans, who made 24 appearances for City in his maiden season at the Club, was delighted with the send-off provided by the Blue Army during the lap of appreciation.
“It’s nice and it’s always important for the families to come down,” the Northern Ireland defender told LCFC TV on the King Power Stadium pitch.
“We’re away from home a lot and we do a lot of travelling so it’s nice for them to come on and enjoy it. As a player, it makes you feel emotional having your family involved, it’s great.”
On the game itself, Evans, 31, added: “It was very hot, sticky conditions! Probably in the last half an hour we were playing a bit more on the counter attack and had to grind it out.
“Chelsea are a good side. We were probably unfortunate not to get a goal at the end, but they had their chances too and I think, over the course of the game, it was pretty even.”
Over the course of City’s three final matches of the 2018/19 campaign – against Arsenal, Manchester City and Chelsea – Rodgers’ men sealed four points, conceding just once.
“I think we’ve defended well, especially in the last three games, against top teams,” Evans added.
“The only goal we’ve conceded was the long-range one from [Vincent] Kompany so we can be pleased with the defending.
“I think we want to add different things to our game going forward. You can see we’re working on it and we’re going to try and improve on it.
“I think confidence is up. It’ll be a big summer in terms of a lot of lads resting up… we’ve got the internationals.
“Hopefully we can get well rested, come back and, like you say, we’re feeling confident going into next season and we’re a bit disappointed maybe that the season’s ending so soon.
“We feel like we want to kick on.”
