- Ricardo lauded the Blue Army for their support throughout the campaign
After moving to Leicester from FC Porto last summer, the No.14 shone for the Foxes, where he finished as the Premier League’s fourth-highest tackler, scored twice and registered eight assists.
His performances were enough to win him the Player of the Season and Players’ Player of the Season awards, earning the respect of the Club’s fans and his team-mates after adapting to the rigours of England’s top flight.
“It was very good,” Ricardo told LCFC TV. “It was different, tough, but it feels even better when you come here for the first season here and you do your best and you achieve your goals.
“It’s what I’ve tried to do since the start of the season and I tried to do it again [against Chelsea], and I want to thank them (the Club’s fans) for the [Player of the Season] award.”
The defender was happy to round off 2018/19 with a shutout against six-time champions of England Chelsea, with City finishing eighth in the Premier League standings.
Ricardo said of Sunday’s game: “It’s very good to feel the atmosphere because they support us, they were there all season and that’s a reward for them too.
“Our first goal is not to concede goals. The clean sheet was good. Unfortunately, we didn’t finish with a win, but it was not a bad result.”
