Ndidi lined up next to former Foxes team-mate Ahmed Musa for the Super Eagles, who beat Burundi in their opening AFCON fixture.

The 22-year-old midfielder claimed the Man of the Match award for his performance in that game, and again played a key role as Nigeria made it two wins from two in Group B.

After a goalless first half, Kenneth Omeruo’s header secured three points for Nigeria, who will now face Madagascar in their final group game.

Gernot Rohr’s Super Eagles have already booked their place in the round of 16 with a game to spare, but will be hoping to go through as group winners with a positive result on Sunday evening (5pm BST kick-off).

Before then, Alex Pașcanu’s Romania will face Germany in the semi-finals of the UEFA European Under-21 Championship.

The Leicester City youngster featured in two of the Romanian’s group stage games and could be in action again in Bologna, Italy on Thursday (5pm BST kick-off).
