- Leicester City were unfortunate not to win on Sunday, says manager Brendan Rodgers

The Foxes fell behind after Mason Mount struck with seven minutes gone, but when Wilfred Ndidi levelled matters with a powerful header, Rodgers’ outfit looked as if they would go on and win the game.
However, James Maddison, Youri Tielemans and Jamie Vardy could not convert their chances, and City had to settle for a 1-1 draw with Frank Lampard’s men.
Speaking to LCFC TV, Rodgers said: “Well, we’re disappointed we didn’t win, but I think overall, we have to be really pleased and encouraged with the performance level. It was a tough start to the game.
“I think their players fed off the momentum of Frank [Lampard] coming back and they started really well. However, we reacted to the goal, going behind, and we got really together with our focus and played our way into the game.
“We’re going to have to have periods like that when you come away from home at one of the top clubs. I thought we grew into it. If we could have made one or two better passing decisions in the first half, we would have been in.
“Then, I thought in the second half, we really controlled the game and defensively we were very good. We didn’t give much away and we pressed the game really well. Then, from an attacking perspective, I was so pleased.
“We were so fast in the game and our combination play was good and the only disappointment was we created really clear chances and didn’t take them. There’s a lot to be encouraged about.”
Rodgers says his side have improved vastly since his arrival earlier this year, and believes the Foxes will take inspiration from their performance against Chelsea.
“I think that since I’ve come in, we’ve been improving and getting better and better,” the manager said. “It’s just the players working with that confidence that we can come away to these big teams and play well and get good results.
“Today, we’re disappointed, which is a good sign that we didn’t win. We’re not happy with the point and we created enough to win, but the players are improving and developing our way of playing and working. Like I say, it was unfortunate for them.”
Rodgers also credited Austrian left-back Christian Fuchs. The left-back was called up to the starting XI to replace Ben Chilwell, who missed out due to a minor hip problem.
The Northern Irishman said: “A special mention to Christian Fuchs – to come into the game so late and play 90 minutes, it was his run and cross that set up the goal, so I’m proud of the team and proud of the direction we’re heading in. Hopefully, the supporters enjoyed it.”
