Your Guide To Leicester City's International Representation

Fourteen Leicester City players could feature for their countries over the course of the second international break of the 2019/20 season.

With the Foxes currently sitting fourth in the Premier League standings, attention switches to international duty, primarily UEFA 2020 European Championship qualifying, for several City stars.

Ahead of what promises to be a busy fortnight for up to 14 of the Club's players from all levels, LCFC.com looks at some of the biggest talking points on the international stage...

The headlines...

Ricardo Pereira last appeared for Portugal as they were eliminated from the 2018 World Cup in a 2-1 defeat to Uruguay.

Following a superb start to the new season with the Foxes at domestic level, right-back Ricardo Pereira returns to the Portugal squad for matches against Luxembourg and Ukraine.

Ricardo, 26, has scored twice for City this term, against Tottenham Hotspur and Newcastle United, and could feature internationally for the first time since last summer's FIFA World Cup.

As England look to continue their perfect UEFA 2020 European Championship campaign, Academy graduate Ben Chilwell has been selected by Gareth Southgate.

Chilwell is joined by three other Foxes set for action for English national sides, with James Justin (U21s), Luke Thomas and Vontae Daley-Campell (U19s) also called up this week.

Midfielder Wilfred Ndidi, on the other hand, has a potentially exciting week ahead with Nigeria set for an international friendly fixture against five-time world champions Brazil in Singapore.

The permutations...

Northern Ireland's hopes of qualifying for next summer's cross-continent tournament are very much alive.

While England (Ben Chilwell) are top of UEFA EURO 2020 qualifying Group A by a margin of three points, several other sides are looking for an improvement in fortunes.

Ricardo Pereira's Portugal trail Ukraine, who they face on Monday 14 October, by five points in Group B, while Kasper Schmeichel's Denmark also trail Republic of Ireland by two points in Group D.

If Jonny Evans adds to his 81 caps for Northern Ireland over the coming fortnight, the Foxes defender will be hoping to help his country continue their excellent campaign so far in Group C.

With five games played, Michael O'Neill's men are level on 12 points with leaders Germany. Meanwhile, Turkey (Çağlar Söyüncü) and Belgium (Youri Tielemans and Dennis Praet) also top their groups.

However, Danny Ward's Wales need to secure positive results against Slovakia and Croatia this month with Ryan Giggs' men sat in fourth place in Group E, although they do have a game in hand.

The landmarks...

Goalkeeper Kasper Schmeichel has enjoyed the entirety of his international career while at Leicester.

Goalkeeper Kasper Schmeichel could earn his 50th cap for Denmark when they face both Switzerland and Luxembourg on Saturday 13 October and Tuesday 15 October respectively.

The Foxes shot-stopper has made all 49 of his appearances for the Danes to date while a a player at the Club and has starred at both the 2014 and 2018 FIFA World Cups.

While James Justin came off the bench last month for England's Under-21s, the young full-back could make his full debut for the Young Lions against either Slovenia or Austria over the coming days.
