- Hamza Choudhury says Leicester City collected a 'massive' three points on New Year's Day
- City won 3-0 at Newcastle United, with Choudhury on the scoresheet
- James Maddison and Ayoze Pérez were also on target at St. James' Park
Choudhury scored his first goal for the Football Club during the win to add to Ayoze Pérez’s opener and brilliant effort from James Maddison.
Delighted with his side’s response to their losses to Manchester City and Liverpool, Choudhury felt the Foxes delivered a professional performance on Tyneside.
Choudhury told LCFC TV: “It’s always a difficult place to come, St. James’ Park, but we came here, and we showed our professional attitude again and how ruthless we can be when we start well, and performed to [the level] that we should. It’s a massive three points.
“After I think the spell we had, on the back of two tough results against two very good sides, it was important for us to bounce back when the games are against the teams that are below us.
“I think it’s so important for us to start building that momentum again and get that winning feeling back.”
Choudhury’s superb finish into the top corner with three minutes to play proved to be his maiden effort in City colours.
“It’s a dream come true, really,” he reflected. “Being here since the age of seven, it’s something you dream of, scoring, especially in front of the away fans at such a place. It’s a really nice feeling.
“I [just wanted to] get good contact and I felt like as soon as it left my boot, I knew it was going in.”
