- Leicester City recorded a ‘great win’ against Newcastle United on New Year’s Day, according to Ayoze Pérez
- The Spaniard scored his fifth Premier League goal for the Foxes at St. James’ Park
- He now has three assists and one goal in his last two appearances for the Club
Pérez scored one and set up another during the Foxes New Year’s Day success at St. James’ Park against Newcastle United, having also registered two assists in last weekend’s 2-1 win at West Ham United.
Reflecting an enjoyable start to 2020, Pérez labelled Thursday’s triumph as ‘a great win’ and described scoring against former side Newcastle United as ‘a special feeling’.
Pérez told LCFC TV: “It was a great win. [It’s] a good start to the New Year, three more points and we keep pushing.
“It’s been a great couple of days for me. I’m feeling better and better, feeling more confident, fitter and that is very important for me. I’m feeling great, improving the stats and winning, we keep winning [and] that’s the main thing.
“It means a lot obviously, back home it’s a special feeling but to be able to score is a great feeling, but the most important [thing] is the win. It’s a tough place to come and play and we did very well.”
Pérez also praised the manner in which Brendan Rodgers’ outfit recovered from their setbacks against Manchester City and Liverpool to earn six points from two tricky away fixtures.
“Very important,” said Pérez of City’s response. “It was a tough period, very busy and we were able to get back, bounce back to [a] winning feeling and the team is proving we’ve got the hunger and ambition to keep winning.
“Well it’s another busy period, [a] busy month for us but we’ve got the ambition. We know what we are capable of and we will keep pushing. We will keep pushing. We are in a great, great position and hopefully we can celebrate something special at the end of the year.”
