- Harvey Barnes believes Leicester City showed improvements in their display against Burnley on Sunday
- Barnes scored the opening goal at Turf Moor, but City were beaten 2-1 in the Premier League
- The Foxes are targeting a victory against West Ham United on Wednesday, according to the Academy graduate
City had a number of chances denied by Nick Pope, who saved Jamie Vardy’s penalty in the second half after Harvey Barnes had given his side the lead before the interval.
However, despite having 18 goal attempts and enjoying 56 per cent possession, the Foxes returned to Leicester empty-handed after goals from Chris Wood and Ashley Westwood.
“I think everyone is disappointed with that,” Barnes told LCFC TV. “I think performance-wise it was a lot better for us. We created a lot of chances, but you look at the result and yes, it’s disappointing.
“The ‘keeper (Nick Pope) had a great game himself. We created a lot of chances but maybe [we were] not clinical enough on the day, but as a team it was a lot more positive going forward.
“Obviously, we went ahead in the game and then switched off in the key moments for their goals.
“I think you’ve got to take some positives from these games. Everyone in there will be disappointed, of course they will, but when we look back at the game we’ll see that we did play some good football but it’s up to us to put the ball in the net and keep it out at the other end.”
Barnes bagged his second goal in his last three appearances in all competitions for City, and while he felt his side would build on his opener, they could not hold onto their lead.
“Obviously, that was very pleasing for myself,” he said. “I think it came at a good time in the game as well in the first half.
“We probably thought at that point we were going to go on and get a few more and see the game out but football doesn’t work like that.
“They made it tough for us, we knew what their strengths were, crosses, set-pieces and that proved to be the main bit for them.”
Up next is a Premier League encounter with West Ham United at King Power Stadium, and Barnes is targeting a triumph on home soil in front of the Blue Army.
“Of course, it’ll be nice to get a win in front of the home fans,” added Barnes. “More importantly to get us back to winning ways.
“We’ve got a lot of tough games coming up, not only in the league, but in the cup as well. So yes, for us, it’ll be very important.
“We’ve got a good few days now to nail down the little details, so we’ll hopefully go into that game and get the result we want.”
