A brace from Jamie Vardy, which included his 100th Premier League goal for the Club, and an opener from Kelechi Iheanacho secured a first success for City since football’s restart.
The triumph, during Brendan Rodgers’ 400th league game management, saw the Foxes move onto 58 points for the season ahead of Tuesday’s trip to Arsenal.
Concentrate on moving forward
Emile Heskey said: “It’s lifted a lot of weight off their shoulders. Since football came back, Leicester haven’t scored many goals, but to get that win and that three points, now we can just concentrate on going forward. Going into the next game, we’ve got Arsenal away, but you’re going to a team who’s under pressure.”
A strong dressing room
Gerry Taggart said: “What it shows, first and foremost, what a strong dressing room there is, because of the frustration more than anything. You take the Brighton game aside, everyone expected Leicester to win that game, but the other games, the performances have been decent. Today, it was complete and utter control from start to finish. That will only breed confidence.”
Playing with freedom
Steve Walsh: “As a professional footballer, that’s how you look at things. You have to gear yourself up for the next game and get yourself rested. It’s difficult playing three games in a week. Leicester have to keep going now. It’s a tricky game at Arsenal, but we’re in a good position in the table and we’ll go there with freedom.”
Leicester can be confident
Emile Heskey said: “Going into the next game, Leicester can be confident. Jamie Vardy has got his 100th Premier League goal and the team have got the win they wanted. It’s a good time going into these next few games, starting with Arsenal on Tuesday.”
No fear for the Foxes
Gerry Taggart said: “There will be no fear going to Arsenal. When they’re on the back foot, they don’t know how to react and that’s what Leicester haver to focus on. Let’s see how they react with our style of football. If they do that, then they’re more than capable of getting a result.”
Barnes has what it takes
Steve Walsh said: “It shows that the manager can identify weaknesses in the opposition team. In the last couple of games, Harvey [Barnes] just wasn’t at the top of his game. He’s got what it takes, has Harvey, and he’s still learning the game, so it’s onwards and upwards for him at the moment.”
