- Ruesha Littlejohn previews LCFC Women's 2020/21 FA Women's Championship campaign
- The Republic of Ireland international joined the Club from West Ham United earlier this summer
- Littlejohn is confident that the Foxes can compete for promotion this season
- She is also buoyed by how quickly the squad has gelled together after several new signings
The Foxes entertain Blackburn Rovers at Farley Way Stadium on the opening weekend of their debut campaign as a full-time professional outfit (2pm BST kick-off).
Littlejohn, a new recruit from Women's Super League side West Ham United, has been struck by the team spirit on show from her new team-mates since joining the Club.
"We've been in pre-season now for about a month," she told LCFC TV this summer. "The team's starting to gel together really nice. Everyone's getting on well with each other, you know.
"It looks like there's a really good team spirit here and we're just excited to get started with the season now.
"When we first started back, we were all in small groups, due to COVID-19, so that probably did help, because people get to know each other in a smaller group.
"That probably broke the ice for a lot of people and we've just moved on and everyone's getting on great. You can see everyone's ready to get the season started, so we're really excited."
The 30-year-old former Liverpool and Celtic midfielder is wary that City's newfound status is likely to increase expectation this term, but is confident that they can rise to it.
"I think since we are now a full-time team, we've got to be really pushing for promotion," she continued. "That is why we're all here, that's what we're setting out to do.
"It's not going to be easy, but I think we've got a good squad and hopefully we can do that. All eyes are going to be on us now that people know we are a full-time outfit.
"The pressure's on, but I think there's a good squad of players here and, within the squad, there's a lot of youth, there's a lot of experience, so we should have a team to get is over the line, hopefully."
Looking ahead to Sunday's fixture against Rovers, meanwhile, Littlejohn expressed her hopes that the Foxes could emerge from a difficult fixture with their first victory of the 2020/21 season.
"It'll be a tough game," she added. "I'm sure every game is going to be tough, so we've got to respect our opponents, but hopefully we can just get our heads down and get set up for the season."
