The Foxes travel to Leyland County Ground for the Premier League 2 clash, following a 3-0 reverse against Everton Under-23s last time out.

Senior Professional Development Phase Coach Beaglehole believes their latest fixture presents an opportunity for the players to put in an improved away display.

“You’re always looking forward to the next game," he told LCFC.com ahead of Monday's encounter with Billy Barr's Rovers side, which you can watch live and for free on LCFC TV.

"As good as we were against Manchester United, we were as bad against Everton. That’s sometimes how it goes, it can happen.

"But the lads have been on a phenomenal run. They were really playing well last season, they continued that through pre-season and started off with two great wins but then fell down at Everton.

"Having said that, I think if we'd have scored the first goal, we could have ended up winning 3-0. It was one of the games where the first goal was going to make a massive difference.

"Sometimes these things are set to test you and it can be a positive. The lads have responded terrifically in training.

"As always, we did a de-brief and there were lots of things we highlighted as areas we could work on and to basically try to get them back onto the run of results and performances that they were showing consistently before that game."

He is under no illusions that it will be another difficult away test against an experienced outfit, but it is a fixture that the squad are excited to contest.

The first of two league games that City play in a week, the squad then travel to Derby County Under-23s on Friday 2 October (7pm kick-off).

Midfielder Callum Wright could come up against his former club if selected to face Blackburn.

"It’s good to have two games next week, we're looking forward to both of them," Beaglehole added. "You don’t forget the games you've played badly in, but you move on and it's a new challenge.

"Blackburn are a similar side to Everton, they are an older side, one of the oldest in the league. They are experienced, they've kept the group together.

"Blackburn always produce good players. There's an unbelievable stat that in the last 500 first team games, they’ve always have someone who has come through the Academy, which is a fantastic achievement.

"So they have good players, they'll be organised, they'll be strong and physical. But we know that, we’ve had some tough games with them, they've come out on top, we've come out on top.

"They are always pretty good games in terms of being able to judge your players from the strength of the opposition."
