- LCFC Women face Barclays FAWSL outfit Manchester City at Farley Way Stadium on Sunday (2pm kick-off)
- The behind closed doors fixture is a Women's FA Cup quarter-final tie rearranged from last season
- Manager Jonathan Morgan wants to ensure the team compete against their illustrious Super League opponents
- He also has one eye on what will be a key clash with Durham in a week's time
The season came to a halt for the international break after City's draw with Sheffield United, but Morgan has been able to keep the majority of his squad in training together, with only Ruesha Littlejohn away on duty for Republic of Ireland.
The LCFC Women manager has been fine-tuning plans for Sunday's trip to Barclays FA Women's Super League side Manchester City in a rearranged 2019/20 Women's FA Cup quarter-final (2pm kick-off).
"I think obviously the international break gave us a chance to sort of relax a little and turn attentions to Man City," he commented, speaking to LCFC TV.
"Myself and the staff, we looked back over the first two games this season against Blackburn and Sheffield United respectively and, overall, four points from two games... we're happy with that.
"We would have preferred six, we felt we were good enough to get the six, but obviously Sheffield put in a stellar performance against us.
"And we were just little bit wasteful in front of goal in that game to take advantage to be honest."
Not only has the last week given Morgan and his squad time to reflect on and recover from the opening games, but also look forward to big tests in both league and cup.
Durham, City's next league opponents on Sunday 4 October, have also made a good start to the new campaign, drawing 1-1 with Liverpool before beating Lewes 3-0.
Morgan added: "The international break, again, provides an opportunity now. We have been looking forward to Man City, but our eyes are also on the league.
"Everything we've been focusing on, really, is to get us ready for next league game. The FA Cup for us is a bonus at the moment and we're going to put out a strong squad and look to compete.
"Whenever you play any WSL1 team, it's brilliant for us in the Championship and we want to go out and give our all and show what we're capable of and show why we're pushing to try and be in the WSL for next season."
