- James Justin reflects on an ‘amazing run’ for Leicester City as they registered a 1-0 Premier League win over Wolverhampton Wanderers
- The defender felt City overcame adversity in the second period
- Jamie Vardy’s first-half penalty proved to be enough to secure the triumph
Striker Jamie Vardy’s 15th-minute penalty ultimately secured all three points for the Foxes, who had to rally in the second period after Vardy was denied scoring a second spot-kick by Rui Patrício.
In the second half in particular, City had to manage the game in order to make it six victories on the spin in all competitions, and much to Justin’s delight, that’s exactly what they did.
“It’s an amazing run for us and hopefully we can rest and recover in this international break and come back fresh,” Justin told LCFC TV.
“We knew how much quality they have and how they defend in that kind of low block.
“We had to try and get through that somehow, and it was just the runs in behind that we kept on pushing and pushing, and we got the two penalties. We converted one, and that was enough for the game.
“We've shown this season that we react well to adversity and we showed that in the second half, where we had to dig in.”
The success against Wolves proved to be Leicester’s third match in just seven games, and while it is no doubt challenging for them, Justin believes his side are utilising their squad effectively.
“It does take a toll on you after a while, but we get what we signed up for, really, and we knew how hard it was going to be this season,” he said.
“We're using the squad to full effect. Physically, we're in a good place.”
Justin will now link up with England Under-21s during the third international break of 2020/21 as he aims to add to his nine caps across youth level for the Young Lions.
“I look forward to meeting up with the boys and getting some time away, I guess you could call it,” he said. “It's a good chance for me to get another game and to keep me ticking over.”
