- Leicester City will stay humble as they head into this weekend’s Premier League fixtures top of the division, according to Christian Fuchs
- City take on Liverpool at Anfield on Sunday night (7:15pm GMT kick-off)
- Fuchs believes Leicester’s players have dealt well with the busy fixture schedule in 2020/21
While some may be affected by the nature of this weekend’s clash, which could see the Foxes extend their advantage at the top of the Premier League, Fuchs says his outfit will embrace the task at hand.
And it is their efforts in training, in the lead-up to the game, following the third international break of 2020/21, that will make sure they are well prepared regardless of what Reds side they may face, he believes.
“We’re on a good run at the moment, but it’s important to stay humble, even in those situations, and just to keep working the way we did so far,” Fuchs told LCFC TV.
“Every inch counts in training, and the way we train is the way we play, so the focus is really high. The demands from every single player, on themselves but also to their team-mates, are also very high.
“Everybody is really looking forward to it.”
City have already showed they are capable of beating the Premier League’s elite sides away from home this campaign, having beaten Manchester City 5-2 at Etihad Stadium before ending a 47-year wait for an away win over Arsenal.
The City defender said: “We go anywhere to get a result. It doesn’t matter if it’s Liverpool, Man City, Man Utd – it really doesn’t matter.
“The names don’t mean anything to us, we’re looking at our performance and trying to give our best.
“Brendan [Rodgers] and the coaching staff are doing well to really show us what their strengths are and what their weaknesses are, and to be prepared for any opponent.”
A challenge that every Premier League team has faced in 2020 has been to manage the quick turnaround of matches while ensuring the players are able to rest and recover in between games.
“The body can’t really recover, which definitely affects every team,” he said. “It’s then how you cope with that.
“I think the players that came in, that filled these positions that were not necessarily first choice, now have got the chance to show that they’re a big part of the team.
“They’ve done really well. That’s something every team has to cope with.”
