City overcome the tough conditions and a dogged Charlton team, who were reduced to 10 players in the 34th minute, following a red card for Ella Rutherford.

Speaking to LCFC TV post-match, Morgan felt the Foxes were made to work for their fourth straight FA Women's Championship victory, but were always in control of the contest.

"We worked really hard for the three points today and I think we were very deserving of it," LCFC Women's manager commented.

"I don't think Charlton registered a shot on goal all game but we knew they were going to make it difficult with how they are out of possession, breaking up play as much as possible.

"They are a very disciplined team, a very energetic team, but even before the sending off they were starting to lose their legs a bit, just by the way they were playing.

"I'm very happy to get the three points and just look forward to going onto Blackburn next week now."

Natasha Flint opened the scoring just five minutes after the sending off, firing the ball home, and it took until 12 minutes before the end for Leicester to grab an elusive second, which Remi Allen converted.

Morgan continued: "That's what we're about, we want to keep playing that brand of football. We know that we've got good attacking threats, I think we can still be a bit more clinical in front of goal.

"But the two goals that we scored, Tash's was a sublime individual effort, an absolutely stunning effort, and then Remi's goal was fantastic because it was a team building goal.

"For Remi to rise as high as she did from midfield as well to score that header was brilliant. Just the desire she showed to get on the end of it was fantastic."

Following a 3-0 victory at home to London Bees, Leicester beat Birmingham City on penalties to reach the Continental Tyres League Cup quarter-finals, ahead of another three points against the Addicks.

With the team remaining top of the table and keeping a third clean sheet on the bounce, Morgan says he cannot fault the efforts of the players.

"We highlighted this week as a bit of a killer week for us and also a very critical week," he added, pointing to the potential strain of playing those three games.

"The fact that we've started the same team for three games on the bounce in seven days, it's obviously brilliant that they've come through with three victories.

"I think that says a lot for our fitness and obviously the hard work behind the scenes that has been put in to keep the girls ready, as well as from a rehab point of view.

"As a whole, the squad depth has been brilliant. We've been able to call upon everyone within those three games and everyone has come on and we've not looked out of sorts whoever has come on the pitch.

"I think we got off to a little bit of an indifferent start, we were trying to find our feet as a full-time outfit and gelling people. Players were understanding each other a little bit more, not just on the pitch but from an off-pitch point of view.

"I feel that we have started to settle. Obviously, it's only half way through the season, there's a long way to go, but we can't complain - top of the league, keeping up with our rivals and hopefully we can take that into the New Year."
