Despite earlier chances for Ayoze Pérez and Cengiz Ünder, the Foxes fell behind on six minutes when Mads Bech Sørensen finished from close range to give the Bees a 1-0 lead at Brentford Community Stadium.
However, a determined City side scored within 60 seconds of the second half via the left boot of Ünder, before Youri Tielemans won and converted a penalty and James Maddison added gloss to the triumph in west London.
“Obviously going in at half-time 1-0 down, we didn’t think we deserved that,” Thomas told LCFC TV. “We thought we played quite well.
“We were all disappointed about the goal. It was a poor goal to concede, but the way we came out [in the] second half and got that early goal, [that] pushed us on to go and get another two obviously, and get through to the next round.
“He (Brendan Rodgers) was quite happy with the way we were playing. He just said [at half-time]: ‘[Inject] a bit more tempo and we can get in behind these and we’ll be alright’.
“Obviously, it’s all worked out and we’ve qualified through to the next round.”
The England youth defender’s 11th appearance of the season saw him play from start to finish in the capital, meaning he has now represented his boyhood club in four competitions this campaign.
“I was buzzing to be playing today,” he continued. “[In] every game I play, I feel like there’s a great opportunity for me to show everyone what I’ve got and the qualities which I’ve got and hopefully I can continue to do that.
“Obviously playing with international players is only making me a better player and it pushes me hard, so I’m hoping that I can continue to do what I’m doing and hopefully get more games.”
