Early pressure from City nearly saw them take the lead, but the Toffees stood strong and, on the half-hour mark, they went ahead when James Rodríguez fired in off the post from 18 yards out.
Leicester responded with a goal of their own after the break, and it came via the right boot of Youri Tielemans after the Belgium star fired low past Jordan Pickford, who made a series of good saves in the clash.
“I’m very pleased with the performance,” Rodgers told LCFC TV. “I thought there was many aspects of the game that we were good in, and a great response to going behind to a team that don’t give away so many opportunities.
“In particular, in the second half, some of our football and the speed of our game was really exciting. With a little bit more luck, we could have gone on and won the game.”
It is the second time in just four days that City have had to come from behind in a game, and Rodgers was frustrated to not take all three points from a fixture in which his side enjoyed 65 per cent possession.
He said: “They’ve got top players, so they’re going to defend well and the ‘keeper made some good saves. It was just unfortunate that the ball wouldn’t quite drop for us.
“I’m really pleased with the spirit of the team. They reacted to going behind, and we stayed right in the game. In the second half, I thought we were dominant.”
Finally, the Northern Irishman provided an update on the fitness of Wilfred Ndidi and Jonny Evans, who were both substituted in the draw.
Rodgers added: “Wilf was tight, it was the back of his hamstring, so we’ll see how that goes in the next couple of days. Jonny, it was just blurred vision in one of his eyes.”
