- Marc Albrighton says Leicester City can be pleased with the Premier League point they earned at Wolverhampton Wanderers on Sunday
- The Foxes drew 0-0 at Molineux Stadium to remain third in the top-flight standings
- Jamie Vardy nearly won it in injury time, but headed Albrighton’s cross off target
Both sides were unable to breach each other’s sturdy defences during a clash in which Fábio Silva went closest for Wolves, while Jamie Vardy, from an Albrighton cross, glanced a header wide in the 92nd minute in an attempt to win it for the visitors.
However, Albrighton – a second-half substitute – felt City could not feel too disappointed with the result after they claimed their 43rd point of the 2020/21 season.
“[We’ve] mixed emotions really,” Albrighton told LCFC TV. “Obviously, it's always a tough place to come. It's a very physical game when you come here, you have a lot of the ball and they sit back and it's always tough.
“But then I think a point, on reflection, was a good point, a hard-fought point and one that we can be pleased with and feel like we've earned.
“I think that's been our motto a lot this season, in terms of I think at the start of season we were either winning games or losing games and we had to get back to: if we can't win it, yes, like you say, don't lose it.
“I think we did that today. We fought well, we defended well at times and yes, on another day, [we] probably could've nicked it.
“It was one of those games where one goal would probably have won it. There weren't going to be too many goals in it, so yes, as I said before, I think when you come to places like this, it's always difficult.
“It's always physical and with the games that we've had just lately, both teams, it's tough to keep that high level up all the time and today I thought we did really well in doing that.”
Albrighton was introduced with just under 30 minutes to play in Wolverhampton, providing quality out wide, and his delivery into Vardy in stoppage time very nearly created a winning goal for the Foxes.
“From my angle it looked quite close, I've not seen it back but it did look quite close,” he said of the No.9’s header.
“I know he's going to be in the box and I just need to put it in an area for him and he'll attack it and he's managed to get in front of the defender, it unfortunately just goes inches wide.”
Another decisive moment in the match came on 77 minutes, when Kasper Schmeichel pulled off a trademark save to deny Silva, saving with his heel while one-on-one with the Portugal youth international.
Albrighton said: “The gaffer pointed it out before the game that you need everyone in your team and your squad. He pointed Kasper out.
“He's made some fantastic saves for us in recent weeks. He's been doing it since I've come to the Club, he makes crucial saves at crucial times, and today is no different, he's come up with the goods again and he's got us a point.”
City will now prepare for their Emirates FA Cup Fifth Round tie with Brighton & Hove Albion at King Power Stadium on Wednesday, and Albrighton says his side will pour all of their efforts into progressing to the last eight of the competition.
He added: “It's exciting. Obviously, the games are coming thick and fast and different competitions and we're fighting on all fronts.
“That's what we looked to do at the start of season. We wanted to be in each competition as long as possible.
“We've got a chance to go into the quarter-finals of the FA Cup, which is a fantastic opportunity for us and we'll be looking to go and put on a big performance and get the result on Wednesday.”
