The Foxes begin their first-ever campaign in the top flight away at Villa at Banks's Stadium in a 12:30pm kick-off and Morgan will have a largely fully fit squad to chose from in Walsall.

While Leicester lifted the FA Women's Championship last term in record-breaking fashion, Villa retained their WSL status with a 10th-placed finish. Looking ahead to Saturday's curtain-raiser, Morgan was pleased to report a mainly fit and healthy squad for the encounter.

A lot of this summer’s preparation has been based around mentality, more than actual physicality or tactical aspects of the game. We’re getting the girls ready to know they’ll have to go into battle in every single game this season.

"With injuries, we’re pretty much with a full bill of health," he told the media. "We’ve not finalised the team yet, which will be done after training tomorrow. There’s a few girls who are unfortunately going to miss out with a few niggles, which will come to light when the team’s announced on Saturday.

"Other than that, we’re in a good place for Saturday."

Much of the preparation work has been on mindset, Morgan added, rather than physical or tactical areas, as the Foxes prepare to tackle some of the most acclaimed sides in the English game. That will be key if they are to impress at the higher level, the LCFC Women manager says.

"From our point of view, we’ve been in a fortunate position all the way through," he explained. "We’ve been able to work all the way through the summer. We’re set on thinking about how we want to tackle the WSL.

"The staff are also stepping up. We’ll have to work harder than last year to do ourselves proud in the WSL."
