- Jonny Evans could feature for Leicester City against Manchester United on Saturday (3pm kick-off)
- Brendan Rodgers says the Club's medical staff will assess his fitness over the coming 24 hours
- Jannik Vestergaard is a doubt for the clash with Ole Gunnar Solskjær's Red Devils
- There's also encouraging news on James Justin and Wesley Fofana
- Wilfred Ndidi could return from a hamstring issue during the next international break
The Northern Irishman has been absent since playing 90 minutes in the 2-0 win at Millwall in the Carabao Cup and, although he didn't join his country's international squad over the past fortnight, the former Red Devils centre-back is in contention to feature this weekend.
Defensive colleague Jannik Vestergaard, however, sustained a slight problem while helping Denmark qualify for the FIFA World Cup and is another player who is being monitored at LCFC Training Ground. The Foxes host Man Utd in a 3pm kick-off on Saturday in the Premier League.
"We’ve had a plan for him this week," Rodgers said, on Evans' recovery from a foot issue. "Unfortunately, it meant he wasn't able to go away with his international team, but there was a plan to try and allow him to arrive into the game tomorrow.
"Hopefully, all being well, after the session today, it looks like there’s no other effects but we’ll just confirm that tomorrow. Jannik Vestergaard has picked up a knock while he’s been away and we’ll just assess that. Otherwise, the guys look super focused. We're ready for this next block of games."
Full-back James Justin (ACL) and centre-back Wesley Fofana (fractured fibula) are two players who continue to work towards their fitness in Seagrave and Rodgers had an encouraging update on them both as he addressed the national media on Friday afternoon.
Justin has been out since February and is expected to return to group training shortly, while Fofana picked up his injury in pre-season, but could be looking at early 2022 to complete his recovery.
"In terms of JJ, he's working so hard and it won't be too long," Rodgers added. "In the next few weeks, we can see him joining the group, maybe around the next international break. He's looking very, very good, so he'll be a huge plus for us when he comes back.
"Wesley is ahead of schedule. He is a young player who has devoted everything to his recuperation and recovery. He's looking very strong, so hopefully not long after the Christmas period, he could be back, which would be brilliant news for us, going into the second half of the season."
On central midfielder Wilfred Ndidi, who's been out with a hamstring complaint, Rodgers explained: "He’ll probably join the group, I would say, in the next international break. Over the course of this section of games, he probably won’t be available. We’re hoping that by then he’ll be back."
Striker Kelechi Iheanacho, on the other hand, was withdrawn during the first of two outings for Nigeria over the international break, but played in the second, and Rodgers confirmed City's top goalscorer in 2020/21 is '100 per cent fine' for Saturday's Red Devils clash.
