- Kasper Schmeichel is on the shortlist for The Best FIFA Men's Goalkeeper Award
- It is the second time the Leicester City captain has been nominated for the prestigious prize
- The Denmark international is shortlisted alongside four other acclaimed shot-stoppers
- The winner will be revealed at The Best FIFA Football Awards in Zurich on 17 January, 2022
The award is presented to the most outstanding goalkeeper in men's football and is voted for by a panel including current national team coaches, captains of all men's national teams and one journalist from each territory.
The respective achievements of five goalkeepers during the period from 8 October, 2020 to 7 August, 2021 will be considered. Over that period, Schmeichel has lifted the Emirates FA Cup and FA Community Shield at the Club, also representing the Foxes in the UEFA Europa League.
The 34-year-old also helped Denmark to reach the semi-finals of UEFA EURO 2020, playing every game in this summer's competition. He also conceded only three goals in qualifying for the 2022 FIFA World Cup, as the Danes became the first European side to each the Qatar finals.
Gianluigi Buffon (2017), Thibaut Courtois (2018), Alisson (2019) and Manuel Neuer (2020) are the previous winners of the illustrious award, which Schmeichel was also nominated for in 2018. The winner will be revealed at The Best FIFA Football Awards in Zurich on 17 January, 2022.

Earlier this year, City's No.1 was also nominated for the Yashin Trophy as part of the 2021 France Football awards. The awards ceremony, which includes the Ballon d'Or, will be held at Théâtre du Châtelet in Paris on Monday 29 November.
