- LCFC Women face Tottenham Hotspur in the Vitality Women's FA Cup on Sunday (2pm kick-off)
- The clash, at The Hive Stadium, is City's first in this season's 2021/22 competition
- Manager Lydia Bedford says there are no new fitness issues in the squad
- She also discusses the nature of Leicester's fixture schedule
The Foxes head to The Hive Stadium in Canons Park for a 2pm kick-off on Sunday against a Spurs outfit who are currently fourth in the Barclays FA Women's Super League. Both Leicester and their north London hosts enter the competition at this stage in 2021/22 as top-tier sides.
Speaking at City's base at Belvoir Drive on Thursday, Bedford confirmed there are no new fitness issues within the group ahead of that tie.
"We’ve no fresh injuries off the back of the weekend, which is good," she told the media. "We’ve been quite lucky, we haven’t had a backlog of fixtures. Most of the time we've had a week in between [games], other than a few weeks' back."
As the campaign enters a key juncture, both in the bid for silverware and to preserve Leicester's top-flight status for another season, Bedford is pleased by the nature of her side's fixture schedule. The former England youth coach believes it can allow them to build a real sense of momentum in their performances.
"For any player, when you’ve got fixtures coming thick and fast, you’ve got to reflect quickly," Bedford added. "You've got to put things to bed quickly. You've got to learn quickly and you've an opportunity seven days later to go and put things right and show again that you can make improvements.
"I'm really pleased with this group in terms of each week we challenge them to make something better that maybe hasn't gone right for us the previous week. You see that reaction and, even within games, at half-time, if you give them clear information, they go out and execute it. They raise their standards.
"It's great that they've got games coming quick and fast."
