Ben Petty reflected on another point gained on the road after Leicester City’s Development Squad drew 0-0 with Derby County on Sunday afternoon.

- The Leicester City Development Squad’s fixture with Derby County finished goalless
- The Foxes are unbeaten in six Premier League 2 Division 1 games, winning three
- Ben Petty was pleased with the defensive work on display during Sunday’s stalemate
- He now wants to see the team take their chances in order to convert draws into wins

City were unable to find a way through the Rams’ stubborn defence at Moor Farm and held to a second successive goalless draw, which leaves the team in eighth position, on 28 points from their 20 fixtures in 2021/22.

That third consecutive draw, following on from three victories, sees the Foxes go six games unbeaten and maintain an impressive run of form as the Premier League 2 Division 1 season moves towards its climax.

“Obviously it was a disappointment not to gain three points after we’d controlled the game for long periods,” Petty commented to LCFC.com post-match. “But I think in a local derby away from home when they are scrapping for their lives, I think we looked at it as a good point and another good learning experience for the players.

“It was very tight, very cagey game. Derby didn’t really commit too many players forward. They were obviously trying to get something out of the game to try and get themselves out of the relegation battle.

“It was up to us to try and break them down. Although we created some really good chances, we weren’t quite clinical enough in front of goal so overall I would say it was a fair result.

“It keeps the momentum of the unbeaten run going. Hopefully we can continue that for the next few games. One of our first aims is to keep a clean sheet in a game and we’ve done that for the last two games now.

“Now it’s up to us to find that little bit of cutting edge at the top of the pitch to turn one point into three, so there’s still lots of things to work on.”

Tottenham Hotspur present the next challenge as Leicester prepare for a quick turnaround and another away trip, facing the Lilywhites at Lamex Stadium on Friday evening (7pm GMT kick-off).

We're trying to keep another clean sheet, working hard to stop the opposition playing and the better we become at that, the more successful we’ll be long term.

With the sides separated by just two points and two places in the PL2 standings, it’s an important fixture in the context of the season, with just six games to go.

City’s coach added: “It’s definitely a big challenge for us to go away twice in a week and we’re very motivated to get to 30 points. We feel as though that would be a good tally at this point in the season.

“It’s an opportunity to get above Tottenham in the table. We’ve played them once and they are probably one of the best teams we’ve played. I know they’ve had one or two bad results recently, but they’ve got some really good players and it’s going to be a big test.

“I think the key for us at the moment is how well we play without the ball. There’s been a big focus on that. We're trying to keep another clean sheet, working hard to stop the opposition playing and the better we become at that, the more successful we’ll be long term.”
