The City centre-back started from the off at Estádio do Dragão in Porto in his nation’s FIFA World Cup qualifying play-offs clash with Portugal, however, the Crescent-Stars were beaten 3-1.
Otávio and Diogo Jota struck in the first half to hand the Portuguese a two-goal lead, before Burak Yilmaz halved the deficit. The Lille striker had an opportunity to level matters from the spot with six minutes of normal time remaining, but missed from 12 yards.
A third goal of the evening, scored by Matheus Luiz Nunes in the fourth minute of injury time, added gloss to the scoreline for the hosts, who set up a play-off final clash with North Macedonia after they eliminated Italy.
Earlier in the day, talented young midfielder Marcal-Madivadua emerged from the bench for Portugal Under-20s in their U20 Elite League clash with Czech Republic Under-20s.

His country registered a 3-0 success courtesy of strikes from Pedro Brazao, Duarte Carvalho and Guilherme Guedes as Portugal moved third in the standings.
