- Marc Albrighton analyses Leicester City’s 5-1 Premier League win away to relegated Watford
- City recovered from an early set back to seal all three points in Hertfordshire on Sunday
- Albrighton came off the bench at the break to set up Harvey Barnes for City’s third goal
- Barnes and Jamie Vardy scored braces following James Maddison's leveller
The Foxes had to come from behind at Vicarage Road after João Pedro struck early on, but goals from James Maddison, Jamie Vardy (2) and Harvey Barnes (2) saw them roar to their biggest away win of 2021/22.
Albrighton, who assisted Barnes for his first goal of the afternoon, felt City thoroughly deserved to win by the margin they did, and put that down to the flowing forward play that saw them muster up plenty of goalscoring opportunities.
“We want to win as many games as possible,” Albrighton told LCFC TV. “Today was no different, we came here to do a job. We had to be professional about it and we were that from start to finish.
“We put more balls into the box, more crosses in, and when you do that, whether you create something off that cross, or it’s a second ball and you’re getting around it for the counter-press… we were just relentless in how we attacked and that’s why we got so many chances.
“When you’re playing in the Premier League, it’s a privilege. So, any game, whether you’re fighting for a title, whether you’re fighting relegation or whether you’re fighting to finish a place or two places higher than where you are, every game should matter.
“Every game, you shouldn’t treat any different, so it was about being professional and we were that.”
Leicester’s penultimate Premier League game, and their final away outing of the campaign, sees them travel to Stamford Bridge to tackle Chelsea on Thursday (8pm kick-off), prior to a 4pm kick-off against Southampton at King Power Stadium four days later.
He said: “We’ve still got two tough games left. Chelsea are a top side and it’s always a difficult place to go, but if we’re professional about it and turn up there with the confidence we’ve got, and some of the football that we’re playing at the moment, we can give them a game, certainly.
“I think the fact that we’re not still challenging for silverware now is obviously disappointing for us. We’ve done that in previous seasons. We’ve given everything this year, we’ve played 55 games already, we’ve given absolutely everything into the season.
“Some games, it hasn’t worked for us, some games we haven’t played the football we would have liked or got the results we would have wanted, but we’ve never given up and not turned up to a game.
“The fact that we are slightly disappointed that we’re not challenging for silverware is a credit to us of how far we’ve come.”
