- FA Community Shield to be played at King Power Stadium
- Manchester City and Liverpool to contest fixture
It will mark the 100th edition of English football’s traditional early season fixture, which acts as a curtain raiser for the new campaign and is contested between the winners of the Premier League and the FA Cup.
Manchester City, who lifted the Premier League title earlier this month, will take on the 2021/22 Emirates FA Cup winners, Liverpool, in the game, which gets underway at 5pm BST on the final Saturday in July.
Traditionally, the fixture takes place at Wembley Stadium, but with the UEFA Women’s EURO 2022 Final scheduled to take place across the same weekend, King Power Stadium was named as the new venue for this season’s fixture.
Leicester City Chief Executive, Susan Whelan, said: “Being able to host such a prestigious fixture in our stadium is fantastic news for the city and further underlines Leicester City's long-term commitment to establish Leicestershire as a home for high profile sporting events.
“On behalf of the Football Club, I’d like to thank the FA and all stakeholders who have worked with us on making this possible. We look forward to welcoming teams and supporters from Manchester City and Liverpool to the city in July.”
Broadcast details and ticketing information will be announced in due course.
