Three days on from a competitive workout against OHL Women at the same venue, the Foxes returned to action, this time in a behind-closed-doors friendly against the Barclays Women’s Championship side, whose squad included former City players Lia Cataldo and Elysia Boddy.
Visiting midfielder Ffion Morgan netted 64 minutes into the contest and that proved to be the only goal of the game, as the Robins provided another strong opposition to build up fitness among the majority of the squad, ahead of the 2022/23 Barclays Women’s Super League season.
It all begins away to Everton on Sunday 11 September (1pm kick-off), before welcoming Tottenham Hotspur to King Power Stadium a week later - with LCFC Women Season Tickets now available to purchase.
Before then, Leicester will take on newly promoted second tier outfit Southampton in another behind-closed-doors pre-season friendly at the team’s training base on Sunday 14 August (12pm kick-off), allowing Lydia Bedford to further assess the team during her first pre-season as LCFC Women manager.
Speaking to LCFC.com after the clash with Bristol City, Foxes full-back CJ Bott commented: "It was definitely good to get another runout on the pitch after having quite a bit of time out myself personally and then obviously as a team as well.
"It's nice to start building up the minutes again. We've still got a lot of work to do, but it's good to iron out a few things and see what we need to work on, for sure."
All times BST.
