LCFC Women defeated Reading 3-1 in a behind-closed-doors pre-season friendly at Belvoir Drive on Saturday afternoon.

As preparations for the new Barclays Women’s Super League season intensify, the Foxes took on a fellow top-flight side on home soil for the first time this summer, coming out on top with goals from CJ Bott, Georgia Brougham and Natasha Flint.

During an entertaining encounter, it was the Royals who took the lead, courtesy of Rachel Rowe’s long-range effort, which found its way to goal after just eight minutes. However, the hosts were level on the half-hour mark when a delightful chip from Bott beat Grace Moloney in the Reading goal.

The side managed by Lydia Bedford gained the advantage for the first time with just under 20 minutes remaining, as Brougham poked home from close range after a scramble from a corner.

Natasha Flint celebrates with Josie Green after scoring City’s third of the afternoon.

City were assured of another pre-season success, a week on from beating Southampton, once Flint won possession high up the pitch and finished expertly, sending the ball over the onrushing ‘keeper late on.

Leicester return to action at Belvoir Drive next Saturday, facing Brighton & Hove Albion in another behind-closed-doors friendly fixture.

Meanwhile, the WSL season gets underway away at Everton on Sunday 11 September (1pm BST kick-off), with LCFC Women Season Tickets for 2022/23 on sale HERE.
