- Jonny Evans reflects on Leicester City’s 2-1 loss to Bournemouth in the Premier League
- City went ahead through Patson Daka, but couldn’t secure the win
- Philip Billing equalised before Ryan Christie secured three points for the Cherries
The Foxes, buoyed by their 4-0 win over Nottingham Forest earlier in the week, were deservedly ahead on 10 minutes, with Patson Daka finishing well off the foot of the post.
But Philip Billing lashed in an equaliser and then Ryan Christie ultimately scored the decisive goal as City suffered their seventh defeat of the campaign.
“Our standards dropped, especially in the second half,” Evans said. “I think it’s probably been the story of the season in terms of starting the games and playing well, coming under a bit of pressure and finding that difficult to deal with at the moment.
“They put a bit of pressure on us [after half-time]. Not an enormous amount, we made one or two passes where we gave the ball away. We just invited the pressure and never really recovered.”
Although City retained belief after falling behind on 71 minutes, they were unable to carve out the leveller, and returned to Leicester empty-handed.
Evans continued: “I think in the second half, we should have probably taken a point in the game. It’s probably not a bad point in the last 10 minutes when you find yourself 2-1 down, but being in that position is disappointing anyway.
“We found it difficult to get back in and our passing wasn’t there. We found it difficult to create chances to get back in the game. That’s probably the most disappointing thing for ourselves.
“He (Brendan Rodgers) talked about our possession of the ball and our sloppy passes [at full-time], we invited pressure and in the Premier League the standard is so high, so you can’t give the ball away that many times.”
