The Red Devils are visiting King Power Stadium in Sunday’s Barclays Women’s Super League encounter (2pm BST kick-off) between the top and bottom sides in the division.

Prior to the meeting on Filbert Way, the Foxes manager evaluated the condition of several members of the squad who have been missing from the opening four matches of the campaign.

Goalkeeper Demi Lambourne has not featured in a competitive fixture since the final game of last season, due to injury, but is now closing in on a return to the matchday squad, Bedford revealed.

“At the moment, everyone is in as planned,” the 35-year-old told the media on Thursday in her pre-match press conference. “There’s still going to be a late call to be made on Demi [Lambourne], like last week.

It’s really great to have her where we can facilitate her getting in with the group, and it’s definitely put a smile on her face.

“But we’re looking more positive than not. So hopefully, by Saturday, everyone will be back and fully in training with us.”

Wales international Hannah Cain, meanwhile, is recovering from an ACL injury suffered last November, but has also made steps forward in her rehabilitation, showing positive signs.

“Hannah [Cain] has made good progress,” Bedford added. “She’s much closer than the other long-term rehabbers. She is at a point now where she’s out on the pitch with us most days.

“Every so often she has one day off to manage her load, but it’s completely unopposed still at this stage, so it’s really great to have her where we can facilitate her getting in with the group, and it’s definitely put a smile on her face.

“She’s still a way off full contact training and match appearances, but she’s definitely one to keep an eye on.”
