Leicester City full-back Castagne started for the Red Devils, while Tielemans emerged from the bench at Jaber Al-Ahmad International Stadium, as Roberto Martínez's side concluded their preparations for Qatar 2022.
Mostafa Mohamed put the Egyptians ahead before half-time, as ex-Aston Villa winger Trézéguet netted immediately after the restart. Loïs Openda did get one back for Belgium, but they were unable to rescue a draw.
While Castagne played 82 minutes from the outset, Tielemans starred for 45 minutes, and Wout Faes did not feature.
Belgium are among the favourites to win the World Cup and begin their Group F campaign against Canada on Wednesday (7pm kick-off) before also tackling Morocco on 27 November (1pm kick-off) and Croatia on 1 December (3pm kick-off).
