Jonathan Morgan led LCFC Women into their maiden season as a full-time, professional outfit, clinching the Barclays Women’s Championship trophy at the end of that campaign.

Initially appointed manager pre-professionalisation during the 2014/15 season, and subsequently leading the team up the divisions from the fourth tier, Morgan oversaw a memorable 2020/21 campaign as he guided the Foxes to the Championship title for the first time in their history.

The side amassed 50 points from 20 league fixtures on their way to promotion, including 16 wins and a total of 54 goals scored during a memorable season for the Foxes, which included Morgan being named LMA Championship Manager of the Month for October.

They soon embarked on a 12-game winning streak in the league – a Championship record – before celebrating promotion to the Barclays Women’s Super League with their first-ever fixture at King Power Stadium.

Furthermore, Leicester progressed into the Continental Tyres League Cup last-four for the first time, beating then-WSL side Birmingham City on penalties, as well as reaching the Vitality Women’s FA Cup Quarter-Finals for the second season running, triumphing over top-flight opposition, Manchester United.

In May 2021, Morgan was named the Barclays Women’s Championship LMA Manager of the Year following his team’s achievements in a historic 2020/21 campaign.

He then oversaw LCFC Women’s first WSL fixture, away to Aston Villa in September 2021, but a difficult start to the season led to Morgan’s departure from his role on 25 November, 2021, along with assistant manager Michael Makoni and first team coach Holly Morgan.

All three played an important role in the development of LCFC Women, particularly since the Club turned professional following its acquisition by King Power in August 2020.
